| China plans fuel tax based on preconditions[2008/07/23] | |
| An official from the Ministry of Finance said on Tuesday that China shall further perfect its long-delayed fuel tax plan and its introduction will wait until oil prices stabilize and Beijing comes up with a proper fuel price scheme. The plan has been prepared for nearly 15 years while global crude oil prices surged to 145 US dollars a barrel. The official says the introduction of the fuel tax will be based on some essential preconditions, such as relatively stable oil prices and a fuel price scheme. Experts predict the possible fuel tax would top 25 percent, charged on retail gasoline and diesel sales to replace road toll fees. |
